Scripture:
Don't be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God. Romans 12:2 [WEB]
Devotion:
The mind is a terrible thing to waste is something that I am sure everyone has heard a time or two before. This statement is true and important for the brain is the central command station that controls when and how the rest of the body functions. If there is any kind of damage to the brain in any way, then the rest of the body will suffer also. In any defense class, you are taught to protect your head as well as the rest of your body. I remember being taught this as well in Judo class when I was younger. Judo is a form of modern Japanese martial art of unarmed combat which is now primarily a sport. Anytime you go into any form of battle, it is important to protect yourself. As a Christian, we do this by putting on the whole armor of God. Every day we are faced with an attack from the enemy and to withstand those attacks, our mind must be protected with the Helmet of Salvation. It is last piece of armor that goes on and signifies readiness for combat against the poisonous thoughts that can attack your minds and hinder our ability to think straight for our mind is a battlefield itself.
Prayer:
Dear lord, As I am faced with the attacks from the enemy, help to keep my mind focused on you. Help me to reject those negative thoughts and doubts and at those times when it looks like I am unprotected, unshielded, and vulnerable to any attack or assault, keep me and help me to recognize the enemies lies. Help me to remember that the victory has already been accomplished and that the enemies’ devices no longer work. In Jesus precious name I pray, Amen.
Reflection:
The enemy will use the things that he thinks will get to us and break us down. However, when we wear the helmet of salvation, we are protected against those things that use to be our weakness. We have overcome the things that use to take over our mind and hinder our way of thinking. Our mind is definitely not wasted when we are focus on God.
