SCRIPTURE:
Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord. (Hebrews 12:14 NLT)
I have discovered this principle of life—that when I want to do what is right, I inevitably do what is wrong. I love God’s law with all my heart. But there is another power within me that is at war with my mind. This power makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me. (Romans 7:21-23 NLT)
DEVOTION:
Today I want to focus on the breastplate of righteousness, or in other words, right-side up living that aligns with God’s expectations. Righteousness, sanctification, or holiness, is or rather should be our daily uniform when it comes to spiritual warfare. I know that being set apart, standing out, being different and not fitting in is not a popular social status that anyone is hustling to pursue. However, it is a very necessary and desired status for those who are striving to please God and make it to that special place he has prepared for those who love him. Matthew 7:13 NKJV says that we should “enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it, because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it”.
REFLECTION:
Righteousness begins from the inside and works its way to the outside and is displayed in our choices, our morals, and even in our attitude. This process begins when we receive the Holy Ghost and it begins to gradually withdraw everything that doesn’t line up with the word of God. I am a true witness that unrighteous living creates peep holes that allows the enemy to seep through giving him permission or access to do what he wants with us. And no, of course he doesn’t turn down our invitation for his attacks, instead, just like the enemy, he’s on standby like a Peeping Tom, lurking and watching to see if we are fully dressed in our uniform of righteousness daily. We must guard our heart because what flows through it affects the condition of our spiritual life.
PRAYER:
Dear Lord, I am aware of that peeping and creeping enemy that’s here to try and derail the plan you have for my life. As your child, help me to stop giving him access to freely do what he wants in my life rather it’s my attitude, or just knowing to do something that’s right and not doing it. From now on let my daily pursuit of righteous living declare to the enemy boldly ACCESS DENIED! My desire is to one day hear you say well done, good and faithful servant, you have been faithful over a few things , I will make you ruler over many things, enter thou into the joy of thy Lord. In Jesus name, Amen!
