SCRIPTURE: As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the Lord is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust him. You armed me with strength for the battle. You made my opponents bow at my feet.
(Psalm 18:30;39 KJV & GW).
DEVOTION:
As many of you, I too have faced many battles in life. We can never say that the enemy isn’t working hard to accomplish his assignment. Whether it’s attacks on our mind, our health, our finances, and even our families, we are forever faced with battles that need to be handled with way more than our physical being is capable of.
Psalm 18: 39 says that God has armed us with strength for the battle and that he makes our enemies bow at our feet. You may ask, “Well Lord, how is that possible?”. And I will then declare unto you it is possible with the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God. The word of God is a spiritual weapon that is used in the spiritual realm to fight on our behalf. It makes the enemy’s attacks seem less severe and causes the enemy to BOW DOWN in defeat.
The word of God has been tried! When we dig deep into the word, in life’s seasons, we will have something to counteract the attacks that are intended to rip us apart. God will reveal himself through his word and gives us exactly what we need to be victorious. We are not in a wrestling match with a human opponent, but we are fighting against rulers, authorities, and powers that govern this world of darkness and spiritual forces that control evil in the heavenly world. Be encouraged, we are more than capable of fighting this battle. Study the word, meditate on it, open your spiritual ears, and you will receive the help you need!
REFLECTION:
Out of the many battles you’ve faced, think of just one that God spoke his word into your heart and turned the situation around. He may not have even changed the situation but he helped you to bare it!
PRAYER:
Dear Lord, my sword and my shield! You have been a help for me and have delivered me from the hand of the enemy. There has never been a battle that you haven’t deemed me victorious. I pray that you open my spiritual ears so I can hear when you speak to me through your word. Help me to be consistent with studying your word that I may receive help in the time of trouble and that I may speak to others as you direct my path. Thank you Lord for revealing your awesome power and your mightiness in battle! You alone are God! In the mighty name Jesus, Amen.
