Scripture: John 10:10 (AMP)
“The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows]”
Devotional
In a physical battle, one of the major pieces of the Roman soldier’s battle gear was the breastplate because of the protection provided to vital organs, especially the heart. Without this specific piece of armor the Roman solider opened himself up to be easily wounded by an arrow that could pierce the heart or lung, ultimately resulting in death.
In the spiritual battle, the heart is a vital organ. The word of God says:
* “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows form it” {Proverbs 4:23 NIV}
* “Guard your heart above all else, for it is the source of life” {Proverbs 4:23 CSB}

In our spiritual life, righteousness protects and guards our heart. When we seek to live upright, it prevents us from living sideways. Upright living does not mean perfection, because there is no such thing. Rather, it means seeking how to live in alignment {a position of agreement} with God. One of the ways we reach this is through the personal relationship we have with Him. This seeking is done on a daily basis in our communication with Him. When life is functioning in alignment, we reduce bumpy living.
Reflection
My hope is for anyone reading this that desires to reduce living sideways and wants to live more in alignment with the Lord, knows wholeheartedly the opportunity is here, right in this moment.
The journey has not been easy and has been filled with a lot of bumpy and rocky roads, but the Lord, HE can help you to steer onto a smoother way.
Prayer
Father, there is not enough “thank you’s” that can be given for all the times You continued to “see” me even when I did not want to see myself because my head was down. I pray right now for any person that desires You in a greater way, that they call on You in this moment and that you Lord provide a bridge-connector for them that can walk with them towards You. We know many are weary, but You Father are the redeemer of much! In Jesus’ Name I pray, amen!
