Scripture:
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10 (KJV)
Devotion:
Acceptance of oneself is often one of the hardest task for individuals. Often times, we devalue our self-worth by not seeing the beauty, skills and/or talents that we each possess. In some cases, we tend to put a lot of time and effort into trying to change who we are or hide our gifts and talents from the world. 1 Peter 4:10, speaks on how we should be stewards of the talents that God has given us. It tells us we should use our talents and gifts to draw men upon Him. Acceptance of who we are as Christians, unlocks denial, fear and negativity of a circumstance or challenges. It helps us build a closer connection to God and ultimately allows us to carry out God’s plan for our lives.
Reflection:
Acceptance is not something that can be forced. As Christians, we must realize that we are a His disciples. Knowing that everything works together for His good, we cannot become self-absorbent. Meaning, we cannot intentionally or mistakenly allow our pride or feelings to stop or hinder God’s plan in our life. We must accept who we are and have faith in the gifts and talents that God has bestowed upon us.
Prayer:
Lord, help me to accept the person that you made me to be, blessings, difficulties, and all. Help me to recognize the plans and purpose for my life and to know there is no purpose too big or too small in this world, as you are the one who gave it to me. Father God, thank you for knowing me, loving me and carrying me. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made. May my works and faith glorify you and encourage others to live their lives in beautiful acceptance of who they were created to be and what they were created to do.
In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen!!!
