TEA ANYONE?

Scripture:

I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would that thou wert cold or hot. So because thou are lukewarm and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth (Revelation 3:15-16 KJV).

Devotion:

In Reference to the letter written by the Apostle John to the Church of Laodiceans, we can learn a valuable lesson about commitment.

Upon thinking about commitment in relation to these verses, my mind automatically reverted back to my daily routine of drinking hot green tea. When most people drink tea, and this may be an assumption based on my own personal preference, they want it either cold or hot versus lukewarm.

As with Christ in dealing with Christian commitment, he would rather we be hot (fully committed and on fire for HIM), or cold (flat out rejecting him having yet to experience His grace and goodness). And yet some are lukewarm being partakers of His grace and having tasted of His goodness and haven’t made a clear choice to serve Him fully.

Being a lukewarm Christian makes God sick to His stomach and results in being vomited out of his mouth or in a more clear sense, being rejected by God.

Reflection:

Sometimes in life as with the Church of the Laodiceans, when we as Christians feel we are living in abundance, having plenty, we tend to forget about the condition of our heart, we forget our true provider is God, and our commitment level diminishes because we feel we have everything we need. Think about how you would like your tea in reference to how God requires our full commitment.

Prayer:

All Mighty God, my prayer today is that my daily walk will display my clear choice of serving you fully. I pray that I won’t be sidetracked by abundant living, my own desires or any other thing that would cause me to take your grace for granted. In the name above all names, JESUS, Amen!!
