THE DIVINE WARRIOR

SCRIPTURE:

The Lord is my strength and my song. He is my Savior. This is my God, and I will praise him, my father’s God, and I will honor him. The LORD is a warrior! The LORD is his name. (Exodus 15:1-2, GW)

Put on all the armor that God supplies. In this way you can take a stand against the devil’s strategies. (Ephesians 6:11, GW)

DEVOTION:

God is a divine warrior, He fights for us. He has freely given us every spiritual weapon we will ever need to walk victoriously every day of our lives. Not only is he our Salvation as Exodus 15:1-2 declares, which changed our eternal destiny, but he establishes, anoints, seals, restores, protects, and shields us from the attacks of the enemy. He fights for us when we receive salvation and apply it. Receiving salvation simply stated is justification, being released from having to pay our unaffordable sin debt. Applying salvation involves a daily process of sanctification and the renewing of our minds which allows us to enjoy the privileges and promises outlined in the word of God for those who love him and walk uprightly before him.

Through salvation, the helmet is a weapon provided us for protection against the enemy’s attempt to destroy our mind through negative thinking and unhealthy patterns of imagination. Like wearing a helmet to protect the head, when we apply God’s word, which is very much alive, we are able to destroy strongholds and place into captivity every thought that goes against the knowledge of God and replace it with God’s thinking. Your mind is the control center of your soul which is the why the enemy fights so hard to destroy it. The enemy knows if he can control our mind he has us right where he wants us.

REFLECTION:

I can’t even began to count the numerous times I’ve let negative thinking control me! Thoughts that are debilitating, destructive, and paralyzing. Sometimes we think we are insignificant, unloved, unworthy or even a mistake. We know that God’s word says the opposite. God has given us the helmet of salvation to protect us from this type of thinking, so why not use it!

PRAYER:

Mighty, divine warrior thank you for fighting for me! Thank you for freely giving me all that I need to walk in your salvation victoriously every day of my life. Help me not only to accept your gifts and the weapons you’ve provided me, but to also put them to use. Help me to bring into captivity every thought or imagination that exalts itself against the truth established in your word. In Jesus name, Amen.
