Scripture: 1Timothy 2:1
I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving thanks, be made for all men
Devotion:
Intimacy can be defined as having a deep connection to and with someone. However, when the presence of God exists in our lives; our connection to Him elevates traditional intimacy to spiritual intimacy. When spiritual intimacy is present there is a sense of unity and mutual commitment to God as well as respect and trust. Spiritual intimacy with God is the most intensified and rewarding form of intimacy. It gives us the courage and capability to overcome circumstances even when we are a fault. This is because we have taken on the heart of God. Like King David in the book of Psalm, our actions sometimes reflect our human nature but the spirit within us is that of God. When we humbly acknowledge our shortcomings and have the desire to do God’s will, our spiritual intimacy strengthens.
Reflection:
Why is it that churches are not overflowing with people praising and worshipping God? On the other hand, why are the ball games, concerts, and night clubs full of people yelling, crying out and waving their hands? Could it be that they lack a full the understanding of God because their relationship with God is casual rather than an intimate relationship? As Christians, our relationship should be intimate. Therefore, we should intentionally embrace every opportunity presented to us by continually strengthening our relationship. This can be done by not being selfish. We must share God and all His wonderfulness with others. We must help others develop an intimate relationship God.
Prayer:
Lord, thank you for always being here for me, teaching me, guiding me, and preparing me do your will. I dare not imagine where I would be if it were not for your love and grace. I thank you for who you are in my life. I count it a blessing that you know my name and you consider me a friend. Lord, as I came before you on this day, I am asking that you continue to pour your spirit in me. It is my desire to continually have a spiritual connection with you. I do not want to be selfish, Lord. It is also my desire to help others obtain a spiritual intimacy with you. I want to understand what I can do to help them develop a relationship or strengthen their relationship with you. I want them to understand that having a spiritual intimacy with you is better than anything that they can think or imagine. Help me Lord; so, I can help others. This and all prayers I asked in the wonderful and powerful name of Jesus the Christ. Amen
