SCRIPTURE:
Be Sober [well balanced and self-disciplined], be alert and cautious at all times. That enemy of yours, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion [fiercely hungry], seeking someone to devour (1 Peter 5:8 AMP).
Devotion:
Bullying is a major issue in today’s society and has been so for many years. Whether in schools, the workplace or in cyberspace, it is unacceptable and has a negative impact on it’s victims. Bullying is used to intimidate, take your focus off the real enemy, destroy your peace, diminish your confidence, and make you forget who and whose you are. I don’t talk about it often, and as a matter of fact, I’ve actually NEVER told anyone this: I was once a victim of bullying. That feeling of waking up in the morning knowing you have to face that bully everyday, still trying to function with some sense of normalcy, not stooping to their level and responding in ways that goes against your integrity and beliefs. And the biggest thing, pretending that nothing is wrong, but knowing at the same time at the end of the day when you return home you get a few hours of peace…. Now tell me that doesn’t sound just like that enemy of yours, the devil!!!
However, I have good news to share with you. We are well equipped to resist and to stand firm. Enemy/Bully/Devil, your cover has been blown! We are aware of your calculated tricks and schemes, your deceptive and manipulative acts. We know that we do not struggle against human opponents but against rulers, authorities, and cosmic powers in the darkness around us and evil spiritual forces in the heavenly realm (Ephesians 6:12 ISV). We will no longer stand by or lay down while you have your way with us. We will not stand down but stand firm. Our gear is intact and fully activated without a second of downtime. We look forward to waking up in the morning to wage war on you, YOU BIG BULLY! We will not go to sleep at night without waging war on you, YOU BIG BULLY. Even throughout the day our attack on you will be vicious! We are confident that we are already victorious through Christ Jesus.
Reflection:
Think of a time when you were caught off-guard or sideswiped by the enemy’s tactics. Now that you are aware of the tools provided us, what will you do differently in preparation for any of his attacks? Read Ephesians 6:10-18.
Prayer:
Dear Lord, now that I am aware of the spiritual resources you have provided me to battle the true enemy, the devil, I pray that you help me to keep these tools activated at all times. I pray that my eyes remain open to the enemy’s tricks and schemes, and to remain confident, regardless of his constant attacks, that he is already defeated through Christ Jesus!! AMEN
